Review

Maybe the most underrated Albums by The Who, even by the die-hard fans. By no means is it better than Quadrophenia or Live at Leeds (different kind of album, I know), but considering what it had to follow I guess it's understandable it doesn't receive attention.

The nice thing about this album is that besides "Squeeze Box" (which some people like?!), every song is solid. Obviously there are ones better than the rest, but besides the one, none weak.

Another reason By Numbers is underrated is the overall tone (not cheery) and the type of songs - in starsk contrast to Quadrophenia, Who's Next or really any other Who album. Normally it wouldn't be a good thing and as a Who fan, I would prefer a rocker like Quadrophenia, but nonetheless we get actually a good album.
