Look Into The Future

I definitely did not think, let alone I would be reviewing a Journey album, but also that I would be singing it's praises. I have nothing against the bad, the few songs I've heard from them are fine, but just not my type of music but I figured I'd give them a chance and I'm glad I did.

For one I did a bit of research and with Steve Perry taking over starting with the 4th album, that's the Journey most everyone knows and hates or loves. But the first 3 albums under Gregg Rolie as lead vocalist (well shared on album #3 - Next) are a very different Journey, at least from Look Into The Future it's a heavier and even I would say "Hard Rock" sound which sounds odd to say about Journey.

But of course I can only reference this album and this one has practically no weak song. "Anyway", "Midnight Dreamer" and "It's All Too Much" aren't quite as good as the others but they are still very good songs. "On a Saturday Night" is a nice song to start with and the "She Makes Me (Feel Alright)" really opens things up with some awesome riffs and continues with a very good "You're on Your Own" and just when you think the album is good, you get blown away by the self-titled "Look into the Future" which is just an incredible song. It's 8 minutes long and yet probably the only song of that length that I don't think goes on too long. It doesn't waste one second.

It seems like I may repeat myself here, I have been reviewing some really good albums but this is simply a great album. Traditional Journey listeners will probably be turned off by this, but for the rest, it's definitely worth a listen, you will be surprised.
